INTRODUCTION

The Ilizarov Methodology is a surgical method / technique used to lengthen or reshape limb bones. It is named after the great Russian inventor Prof. Gavriil Ilizarov. This method was developed in Kurgan, Russia. This method is also used to treat resistant and infected non-unions with or without bone loss, not amenable with other techniques. In addition, the procedure is often used to treat complex and / or compound fractures where conventional treatment techniques cannot be used. It is most famous for limb lengthening.
